Gloria Pulido is a second generation Filipino American, born and baptized 

in Historic Filipinotown in Los Angeles, and the daughter of a retired United 

States Navy veteran.  Gloria has lived in Cerritos since 1979.  Currently, 

she is an appointee to the ABC Unified School District Strategic Planning 

Committee, is a board member of the foundation for her daughter’s 

elementary school and the Vice Chair-Los Angeles Region of the Filipino 

American Democratic Caucus of the California Democratic Party.  She is a 

member of the Philippine Society of Southeast Los Angeles and served as an 

Executive Officer, an Advisor and the Scholarship Chairperson.

 

Professionally, she has been a state employee since 1998. From 1998 – 

2006, she was a legislative staffer to two former Assemblymembers that 

represented her hometown of Cerritos. Since 2007, she has served as Senior 

Assistant to California State Controller John Chiang in his Los Angeles 

office. As a state employee, Gloria is a member of SEIU Local 1000 and a 

member of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO.

 

Gloria held the position of Public Relations Coordinator and Outreach/

Project Assistant at Operation Manong at the University of Hawaii at Manoa 

and a Radio Talk Show Producer/Host at KNDI 1270 AM Radio Station in 

Honolulu, Hawaii.

 

She received her Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Hawaii 

at Manoa and earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University 

of California, Los Angeles. 

 

Gloria is married to Cerritos Mayor Mark Pulido and they are the proud 

parents of two children.  Both were former students in the Filipino Cultural 

School.
