Marissa Baldivino, Summer 2019
Last summer I enrolled my 4 & 1/2 year old son Luca in FCS for the first time. I was referred by my co-worker Jennifer and my neighbors Dem and Davina. All three assured me that my son would love FCS. THEY WERE RIGHT! Luca loved everything about FCS from day one. His teachers were cool and encouraging. He loved having a snack break and a lunch break like big kids. He liked interacting with his classmates and older kids in the other classrooms. He learned the alphabet and numbers in Tagalog and some more vocabulary. His favorite part of FCS was the Family Games at the end of each session. Students were grouped into Families and competed in competitions such as relay races. Once during pick up, I heard the LOUDEST cheering from the parking lot. When I picked up Luca he told me he helped his Family win the competition. He was so proud and he had so much fun.
For me, this was the perfect summer activity. I think they had class every Saturday for 4 hours for about 2.5 months. I attended and enjoyed the mixers and mini “lecture” series for parents that were held on site. It was my pleasure to provide lunch for the volunteers for one session and to design the 2019 FCS shirt with my husband. My favorite part was that my son enjoyed attending and learning about our Filipino culture. I can’t say how much I liked this program. I often wear the FCS shirt to my son’s sporting events to advertise the program. I hope it works. Joining FCS is a no brainer especially if you live nearby.
